A Note To Our U.S. Customers Regarding U.S. - Canadian Exchange Rates Some of you may not be aware but the value of the Canadian dollar has dropped significantly over the past little while, when compared to the US dollar. What this means is that your US dollar is worth much more than our Canadian dollar. Only 1 year ago, both countries currency were at about par, but that is no longer the case. As an example, if you were to purchase an item from us totaling $1,000.00 Canadian (all of our pricing is in Canadian dollars) the equivalent US pricing would only be approximately $875.00 USD (based on today's – Sat. June 20 / 2009 – exchange rate using http://www.xe.com/). Please note that the exchange rate does change on a daily basis so please use this as a reference only. Welcome to the Dunbar Bagpipes Website! J. Dunbar Bagpipe Maker Ltd., established in 1967, is leading the ancient art of bagpipe making into the 20th century. Jack Dunbar, our founder, worked for Henderson Bagpipes, where he apprenticed in the 1930's. When Jack immigrated to Canada, he had the knowledge of Henderson specs and tooling. His decision was to make his bagpipes in the Henderson tradition, with a few minor tweaks thanks to the knowledgeable input of The Captain, Ken Eller. Dunbar Bagpipes have the same great sound as the traditional Henderson bagpipe. Our procedures and employees have been in place for years. Jack himself taught most of our employees the skills he perfected while making bagpipes so many years ago in Scotland. All mounts, whether they are imitation ivory, nickel, stainless, etc. are securely threaded into place. We have a wealth of experience not only in making one of the best bagpipes on the planet, but also in repairing and restoring sets from around the world and across the ages. We know bagpipes!
